Tiger takes away woman in Sundarbans

Canning (WB), Aug 8: A tiger on Friday took away a middle aged woman while she was busy catching crabs from the Dhula Bamli canal in Pirakhali-6 area in Sundarbans under South 24 Parganas district.

The tiger attacked Bhagawati Mondal (42) while she was catching crabs along with her husband and a fellow villager of Gosaba, forest officials said.

The woman's husband Sunil Mondal and the other villager Parimal Mridha tried to fight with the tiger, but finally the animal took her away by her neck at about 8.30 am, they said. Forest guards are looking for the woman, they said.
