Majumdar was admitted to the hospital after he lost consciousness amidst a clash between security personnel and party backers while leading a sit-in demonstration concerning the situation in Sandeshkhali on Wednesday.

Following his collapse, the Balurghat MP received immediate medical attention at a hospital in Basirhat, where he was placed on oxygen support. Subsequently, he was transferred to a private hospital in Kolkata, where he remained in the ICU until today's transfer to a room in the daycare building.

Following the outbreak of violence, the BJP formed a six-member committee comprised of Union Ministers and MPs, charged with investigating the alleged instances of sexual harassment and violence against women in Sandeshkhali.

Union Minister Annapurna Devi has been appointed as the committee's convenor, alongside members Pratima Bhowmik and BJP MPs Sunita Duggal, Kavita Patidar, Sangeeta Yadav, and Brijlal.

Their mandate includes visiting the site of the incident, assessing the situation firsthand, engaging with affected individuals, and compiling a comprehensive report to be submitted to BJP national president JP Nadda.
