The official notification issued by Raj Bhavan stated that the West Bengal Legislative Assembly stands dissolved from May 7. The move comes shortly after the BJP secured a decisive mandate in the assembly polls, paving the way for a change in government in the eastern state.

Mamata Banerjee Refuses To Accept Defeat

Even as the assembly was dissolved, Mamata Banerjee continued to question the election outcome and rejected calls for stepping down immediately after the results.

Addressing a press conference earlier this week, the TMC chief alleged that the electoral verdict had been manipulated in favour of the BJP.

"No question of me resigning, we were defeated not by public mandate but by conspiracy," said Mamata during her press conference earlier this week.

Her remarks triggered sharp political reactions, with BJP leaders defending the election process and describing the result as a reflection of public sentiment.
