Mamata Banerjee Attacks BJP In Purulia Rally, Defends Welfare Schemes And Slams ‘Chargesheet’

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a strong attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a public rally in Purulia.

With elections approaching, she addressed several key issues, including welfare schemes, political allegations, and governance concerns.

Claims on Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme

Speaking at the rally, Mamata Banerjee highlighted the benefits of the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme, which provides financial support to women in the state. She said that many women have gained from this initiative and depend on it for their daily needs.

At the same time, she accused the BJP of trying to mislead voters. According to her, the BJP may offer temporary financial benefits before the elections but would discontinue such schemes after coming to power. She warned people to be cautious and not fall for short-term promises.

Response to BJP's 'Chargesheet' Allegations

Mamata Banerjee also responded to recent remarks made by senior BJP leaders, who released a "chargesheet" against her government. She dismissed these allegations and turned the criticism back on the BJP.

She argued that if anyone deserved a chargesheet, it was the BJP itself. Referring to past incidents, she mentioned riots in Gujarat and questioned the party's record on maintaining peace and harmony.

Mamata Banerjee Speaks About Personal Attack

During her speech, Mamata Banerjee also addressed criticism about her physical condition. She recalled a past incident where she was injured and had to move around in a wheelchair.

She said that she had faced a serious attack and fought through a life-threatening situation. Responding to comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, she urged critics to check medical reports instead of making remarks without facts.

Criticism of BJP's Policies and Ideology

The Chief Minister strongly criticised the BJP's policies and ideological stance. She claimed that the party tries to control people's food choices by opposing the consumption of fish, meat, and eggs.

Banerjee further alleged that the BJP does not truly respect religious diversity and often creates divisions in society. She also accused the party of encouraging unrest and riots in different states under its rule.

Concerns Over Adivasi and Women Safety

Mamata Banerjee raised concerns about the condition of Adivasis and women in BJP-ruled states. She alleged that tribal communities are being exploited and that women face insecurity and violence.

She presented her government as one that works for the welfare and safety of all communities, especially the weaker sections of society.

Another major issue raised by Banerjee was the role of the Election Commission. She claimed that many officials who had worked closely with her government, including IAS and IPS officers, had been removed or transferred.

According to her, these actions were unfair and amounted to humiliation of experienced officers. She suggested that such moves could affect the fairness of the election process.
