According to the report, Banerjee called up Milan Mukherjee, the uncle of Muktesh and a veteran lawyer, soon after Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak confirmed that the flight had crashed into the southern Indian Ocean. The Bejing-bound MH370 had gone missing soon after taking off from Kuala Lumpur on March 8.
Muktesh Mukherjee and his wife Xiaomo Bai were on board the ill-fated plane
The parents of 42-year-old Muktesh live in Mumbai and they rushed to Bejing to attend the couple's children. Milan Mukherjee also went to Beijing and returned a few days ago, the report said.
What did Banerjee tell Mukherjee? According to the latter, the chief minister sympathised with the distressed family and assured all kind of help. The lawyer was overwhelmed by the chief minister's response.
The Mukherjees are now trying to permanently bring the two children, aged seven and two, to India. They will appeal to the family court on this, said the report. "How long could we live in such uncertainty? Now it is time to think about the two kids," the report quoted Milan Mukherjee as saying.
