Kolkata shocker: Electrician rapes home alone woman, arrested

Kolkata, April 10: A 49-year-old woman and a mother of two was reportedly raped by an electrician on Wednesday, April 8 in Santoshpur area of south Kolkata.

According to news report, the accused identified as Pradesh Sur alias Bikram was arrested.

On Thursday, he was produced in the court, but shockingly, the remorseless man was reportedly smiling.

Police said that the accused barged into woman's home, realising that she was alone at home.

Police also informed that some wiring work was taking place at victim's apartment. The accused had reportedly took note of family's routine.

On Wednesday, around 3.30 pm, the woman was alone, as her husband and both sons were out for their routine work.

On the pretext of repairing the electric bell wiring, man entered the house and forced himself upon the victim.

When accused fled from her apartment after committing the crime, the survivor dialled 100 number and called the police.

Lalbazar HQ poliuce rushed to the woman's residence and started hunting for the accused.

After tracing his number, Bikram was arrested from his house, where he was living with his wife and children in Dhalua, Sonarpur.

A medical test was performed that confirmed woman was raped.

Bikram has been taken into seven-day police custody and he is being interrogated.
