Constable held for raping housewife in Bengal
Kolkata, Nov 20: A police constable was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a housewife in West Bengal's West Midnapore district, police said.
The incident happened in Belda late Wednesday when Constable Nikhil Mandal barged into the house of the victim and raped her.
Local residents later got hold of the accused and thrashed him before handing him over to the police.
"On the basis of the victim's complaint, we have arrested Mandal on charges of rape," Additional Superintendent of Police Badana Varun Chandra Sekhar told IANS.
