1 drown, 2 others feared dead in WB

Contai (WB), Sep 18: An employee of IT company Wipro drowned and two of his colleagues are feared dead as they went missing while taking a bath in the Bay of Bengal at Mandarmani today, police said.

The three were part of a 15-member group that had gone to Mandarmani in East Midnapore district. 10 of them went to the sea for a bath.

Apparently, all of them were drunk and the sea was rough because of high tide, they said. Sumantra Banerjee, Lokesh Malhotra and Binay Chowdhury, who work in the Salt Lake office of Wipro, went in deep waters away from the group and went missing, police said.

Sumantra's body was fished out later but the two others are still missing, police said, adding efforts are on to locate them.
