Rain fury in Kerala: Holiday declared in four districts
Kochi, July 18: With heavy rains continuing to lash Kerala, educational institutions in at least four districts have declared a holiday today, i.e. on July 18.
Ernakulam collector has declared holiday for al schools and anganwadis in the district. In Idukki also, all schools, including higher secondary, will remain shut.

In Alappuzha, all institutes, except professional colleges, will remain shut, the collector announced on Wednesday.
Kottayam collector has declared holiday for all educational institutions, including professional and anganwadis, in the district. There will be an additional working day in the same term instead of the holiday.
In Pathanamthitta district, all institutes except professional colleges in Tiruvalla, Mallappally and Kozhencherry taluks will be shut.
Heavy rains and severe floods have left 13 people dead and forced more than 34,000 to take refuge in relief camps across parts of Kerala.
A total of 34,693 people from 8,033 families were shifted to 265 relief camps across the state, the control room monitoring rain-related incidents said.
Most of the southern districts in the state received heavy to very heavy rainfall, disrupting the normal life. At least 9 people have died in the state in the last three days in incidents related to rain and strong winds.
