Identity card a must to sell old gold ornaments in Kerala

Kochi, Aug 25 : If you are planning to sell any old gold ornaments in jewellery shops in Kerala, then from now on you should carry a copy of identity card with you.

The police have given strict instructions to the shop owners to take the copy of the identity card and photographs of the gold ornaments.

This is applicable to the gold ornaments that weighs more than 2 sovereigns.

The move is to prevent the selling of stolen gold at the jewellery shop and to save the shop owners from being dragged into trouble.

Jewellery shops owners and the police get into conflict regularly in connection with seizure of stolen gold in the state.

There are wide complaints from the jewellery shop owners that the police are creating unnecessary problems by dragging them into cases.
