BJP Targets Four to Five Seats in Kerala for Lok Sabha Elections, Says Metroman E Sreedharan

BJP leader Metroman E Sreedharan has shared his views on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He believes that the BJP could win four or five seats in Kerala.

Sreedharan mentioned specific constituencies where the party has strong chances, including Thrissur and Alappuzha. However, he has made it clear that he will not be contesting in any future elections. The Thrissur seat, with actor Suresh Gopi as the candidate, is seen as particularly promising.

Sreedharan also highlighted the potential in other constituencies like Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram. He noted that while Pathanamthitta has possibilities, Thrissur holds a higher chance of victory for the BJP. The campaign in Thrissur has been buoyed by the prospect of Suresh Gopi becoming a Union Minister if elected. Gopi's commitment to not just represent Thrissur but also to work for the overall development of Kerala has been well-received.

In Thiruvananthapuram district, the BJP has fielded Union Ministers Rajiv Chandrasekhar and V Muraleedharan in Thiruvananthapuram and Attingal constituencies, respectively. These areas are considered A-class constituencies for the BJP, reflecting their strategic importance and the party's improved vote share in 2019. Meanwhile, Anil Antony is contesting from Pathanamthitta, and despite Alappuzha not being an A-class constituency for BJP, Sreedharan sees potential there as well.

E Sreedharan, who ran as a BJP candidate in Palakkad during the 2021 Assembly elections but was defeated by Shafi Parambil of Congress, reiterated his decision not to contest in any upcoming elections. This includes any by-elections that might occur in the Palakkad Assembly seat following a victory by Shafi Parambil in the Vadakara Lok Sabha constituency.

Furthermore, Sreedharan expressed his support for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), stating his belief that excluding Muslims from its provisions was a correct decision. This stance has sparked criticism from various quarters. Despite these controversies, Sreedharan remains a vocal supporter of both the CAA and the BJP's electoral prospects in Kerala.
