The voting on May 10th went off without a hitch, with a turnout of over 73.3%, the highest in Karnataka in decades. In 2018, the figure was 72.13 percent.

There are a total of 2,613 candidates in the race. The ruling BJP ran candidates in all 224 Assembly seats, the Congress in 223, the JD(S) in 207, the AAP in 209, the BSP in 133, the CPI(M) in four, the JD(U) in eight, the NPP in two, and 918 are independents.
