Rajasthan: Mobile phones, jeans, social media use banned for girls in Barmer
Barmer, July 2: Girls in Barmer district of Rajasthan have been issued a diktat by the khap panchayat for not to use mobile phones and social media.
The decision was taken in Kanana village by Samdari panchayat. It also warned girls not to wear jeans.

Panchayat also suggested that bridegrooms should wear dhoti, at the time of getting married.
However, such kinds of diktats have been issued by several khap panchayats in various states including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Surprsingly, the same panchayat, few days back had directed the village to put a ban on child marriages and on liquor.
It also advised villagers to send their children to school.
