Rajasthan: 2nd national tourism conclave organised

Jaipur, July 14: The 2nd National Tourism Conclave was organised in Jaipur as top officials of the state tourism department said a number of "pro-tourism" projects being executed in the state would give a major boost to the sector.

Tourism in Rajasthan is set for taking a "giant leap forward" with several initiatives being taken by the state government, Managing Director of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) Haulianlal Guite said.

The state has something for all kind of tourism lovers and aggressive marketing strategy of the government has further bolstered the sector, he said at the conclave.

Director of Tourism in the state government Pradeep Kumar Borar said Rajasthan is the "most preferred tourist destination" and a number of pro-tourism projects being executed in the state would give a major boost to the sector.

Kuldeep Ranka, Principal Secretary, Tourism, said the state government has increased its tourism budget in recent years.

Improving intra-air connectivity is another step forward to increase domestic and international tourist footfall in the state, he said.

Many foreign diplomats and ambassadors, including J Goburdhun, High Commissioner of the Republic of Mauritius to India, Dato' Hidayat Abdul Hamid, High Commissioner of Malaysia, and Nikolay Rishatovich Kudashev, Ambassador of Russia were also present at the conclave.

Goburdhan praised the "key role" of the Indian community in the development of Mauritius.

"Mauritius is like 'mini India' as one can find almost all ethnicities, caste and creed of India playing a key role in the development of Mauritius. Tourist destinations in Mauritius are very popular among Indian tourists and we value this relationship," Goburdhun said.

Dato' Hidayat Abdul Hamid, the Malaysian High Commissioner to India, said India and Malaysia share a "special relationship".

Tourism development is a common area of interest of both the nations and in recent times, they have taken numerous bilateral efforts in speeding up the collaborations.
