Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Looks Forward to Meeting with Trump Administration Officials
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed that multiple discussions have occurred between Washington and Kyiv since US President Donald Trump took office. Zelenskyy expressed optimism about meeting Trump in person soon. In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press on Saturday, he mentioned that these interactions involved Trump's special envoy, Keith Kellog, national security adviser Mike Waltz, and other officials.

Zelenskyy described the talks as "very good," focusing on general topics. He noted that a planned visit by Kellog to Ukraine was postponed but anticipates it will be rescheduled shortly. "It is important for us that this happens in the coming weeks, the nearest dates," he stated.
Concerns Over Exclusion from US-Russia Talks
In the same interview, Zelenskyy expressed concerns about direct discussions between the US and Russia regarding the Ukraine conflict that do not include Kyiv. He labelled such talks as "very dangerous." His comments came after President Trump mentioned on Friday that American and Russian officials were "already talking" about ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Zelenskyy emphasised the risks of excluding Ukraine from these discussions. "They may have their own relations, but talking about Ukraine without us — it is dangerous for everyone," he warned. This highlights Kyiv's apprehension about being sidelined in negotiations affecting its future.
The Ukrainian leader's statements underscore the importance of including Ukraine in any diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict. As tensions remain high, Zelenskyy's call for involvement in talks reflects his administration's desire to ensure Ukraine's interests are represented.
Zelenskyy's remarks also indicate a broader concern about international negotiations that impact Ukraine's sovereignty and security. His insistence on participation in discussions with major powers like the US and Russia underscores Kyiv's strategic priorities.
As diplomatic efforts continue, Zelenskyy's focus remains on securing a direct dialogue with President Trump. The Ukrainian president hopes such engagement will strengthen bilateral relations and support Ukraine's position in international negotiations.
