Wreckage of missing Indonesian plane found

Jakarta, Oct 5: Wreckage of a small passenger plane, which went missing last week in eastern Indonesia, has been found, a rescue official said on Monday.

National Search and Rescue Office (BASARNAS) deputy Heronius Guru said the discovery was reported by local residents, Xinhua news agency reported.

"People have given report to the head of BASARNAS at the field that the wreckage of the plane has been found," Heronius said.

However, he did not provide any details of the wreckage site.

The twin-engine Otter DHC-6 plane with 10 people on board lost contact with ground control on October 2. It was en route from Masamba to Makassar in South Sulawesi province.

People on board the aircraft, operated by Aviastar airline, comprised the pilot, two technicians and seven passengers.
