Woman Sentenced to 25 Years for Drunk Driving Crash That Killed Bride on Wedding Day
A woman who admitted to driving under the influence and speeding significantly over the limit, resulting in a fatal crash with a golf cart, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. Jamie Lee Komoroski, aged 27, pleaded guilty at the Charleston County courthouse to charges including reckless homicide and felony DUI causing death.

On April 28, 2023, Komoroski was driving at 105 mph (65 mph) on a narrow road in Folly Beach, where the speed limit is 25 mph (40 kph). She collided with a golf cart leaving a wedding. Tragically, Samantha Miller, the bride aged 34, died while still in her wedding dress. The groom sustained a brain injury and multiple fractures.
Impact of the Tragic Incident
The crash propelled the golf cart approximately 100 yards (91 meters). Komoroski later acknowledged her addiction to alcohol and expressed remorse for her actions. She stated her intention to dedicate her life to helping addicts and raising awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving.
Komoroski expressed deep regret, saying she was "devastated, deeply ashamed and sorry" for her actions. "I wish I could go back and undo this terrible tragedy. But I cannot. I will live the rest of my life with intense regret for what happened that night," she said.
Family's Reaction to Sentencing
Before sentencing, Samantha Miller's father expressed his anger towards Komoroski. He accused her of failing to take responsibility for her actions. "The rest of my life I'm going to hate you and when I arrive in hell and you come there, I will open the door for you," Brad Warner said. "You have ruined so many people's lives."
Komoroski's guilty plea included charges of reckless homicide and two counts of felony DUI causing great bodily injury. Her admission highlighted her awareness of the consequences of her actions and her commitment to making amends by supporting others struggling with addiction.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences of impaired driving. It underscores the importance of responsible behaviour behind the wheel to prevent such devastating outcomes in the future.
