Why Kamala Harris Is 'Scared As Heck' Of Donald Trump's White House Return?

US Vice President Kamala Harris said Wednesday she was "scared as heck" that Donald Trump would return to the White House in the November election and urged Democrats to "fight back".

Her remark came after Trump stormed to victory on Monday in the Iowa caucuses, the first step in the Republican nomination race to challenge President Joe Biden later this year.

"I am scared as heck, which is why I'm travelling our country... we should all be scared," she told The View, an all-female-hosted talk show on the ABC network. ( Keep this quotes)

However, the 59-year-old Harris noted, "We don't run away from something when we're scared, we fight back against it." Harris's response was prompted by a question regarding reports of former President Obama's concerns about the Biden campaign and comments made by ex-first lady Michelle Obama, who expressed being "terrified" of a second Trump term.

Recent direct attacks on Trump by Biden have escalated, with warnings that the twice-impeached former president, facing 91 criminal indictments, poses a threat to US democracy, reported AFP. Harris has been given an increasingly prominent role in the president's reelection campaign as it aims to mobilize Black, female, and young voters for this year's crucial election.

Kamala Harris: A Triple-Trailblazer

As the first female, first Black, and first South Asian vice president, Harris is a triple-trailblazer and has been a significant fundraising draw for Democrats, according to the AFP reports. However, she is plagued by low approval ratings and is a repeated target for Republican attacks that claim she is unqualified to assume the presidency if anything were to happen to the 81-year-old Biden.

A nationwide tour to promote reproductive freedoms will be undertaken by Harris next week as Democrats aim to highlight abortion rights as a key issue in the 2024 race. The tour will commence in the pivotal swing state of Wisconsin on Monday, coinciding with the 51st anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision that granted a constitutional right to abortion.

Trump has consistently claimed credit for the court overturning the landmark ruling last year, as he appointed a series of conservative judges to the bench during his first term. An unlikely source of praise for Harris's abortion messaging comes from Trump's former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. "What Kamala is doing, right or wrong, is very powerful among young women," she told conservative Fox News.
