According to Iranian authorities, Khamenei will be laid to rest at the Imam Reza Shrine in the holy city of Mashhad, a place of deep religious significance and one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the Shia Muslim world.

The Iranian leadership has chosen the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad as Khamenei's final resting place. The shrine, located in northeastern Iran, attracts millions of pilgrims every year and is considered one of the holiest locations in Shia Islam.
