She explained, "And even though there was no immediate threat to my safety, my family, and friends from both sides of the border were concerned. I needed some space and time to reflect on what had transpired. I understand and deeply regret the hurt caused by the posts that were circulated. I wish to make clear that they do not represent my values or who I am as a person today," she added.

"There is no excuse or space for such language, and I sincerely apologise to anyone who was offended," she stated.

Abbas served as a commentator on the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 panel. Some media reports had claimed that Abbas was requested to leave from India as her controversial posts surfaced online. "I understand and deeply regret the hurt caused by the posts that were circulated. I wish to make clear that they do not represent my values or who I am as a person today," she added.

"There is no excuse or space for such language, and I sincerely apologise to anyone who was offended," she added. The TV host had come under attack after her alleged anti-India and anti-Hindu posts went viral, according to a report in OpIndia.

Supreme Court lawyer Vineet Jindal said that he has filed a cyber complaint against Pakistani cricket presenter Zainab Abbas for her old anti-India and anti-Hindu posts.

On X, Jindal said he had lodged the complaint lodged with the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police and urged them to file an FIR against Zainab Abbas. The request was to invoke sections 153A, 295, 506, 121 of the IPC and section 67 of the IT Act, pertaining to derogatory comments about Hinduism and anti-India remarks. Furthermore, the advocate pressed for the removal of the Pakistani presenter, Zainab Abbas, from the roster of presenters for the ongoing ICC Men's World Cup.
