Who Is Vincent Lyne? Aussie Scientist Claims MH370 Was Intentionally Ditched

Australian scientist Vincent Lyne has reignited interest in the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 mystery with a provocative new theory.

Lyne, an adjunct researcher at the University of Tasmania's Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, suggests that the missing plane, which disappeared on March 8, 2014, might be located in a deep underwater "hole" within Broken Ridge in the southern Indian Ocean, as reported by Times Now.

Who Is Vincent Lyne?

In a recent LinkedIn post titled "Mystery of MH370 Solved by Science," Lyne proposed that the aircraft was deliberately flown into this rugged terrain by its pilot, Zaharie Ahmad Shah, challenging the prevailing theory that the plane crashed due to fuel exhaustion. Lyne argues that the aircraft was intentionally ditched in a controlled manner rather than suffering a random crash.

Lyne's background includes four years at WHOI and USGS, 26 years with CSIRO, and significant contributions to marine planning and ecosystem assessments. He is known for developing the Lyne-Hollick algorithm and has worked on Nobel Peace Prize-winning IPCC projects. His experience extends to roles with international missions and conventions.

Lyne asserts that the complex terrain of Broken Ridge could have concealed the aircraft, explaining why extensive searches failed to find wreckage. He supports his theory by pointing to a flight path that intersects with the longitude of Penang Airport, derived from the pilot's simulator data-an area previously ignored by other investigators, as reported by Times Now.

Drawing a parallel with U.S. Airways Flight 1549, which was intentionally ditched in the Hudson River, Lyne suggests that MH370's wreckage would show signs of controlled ditching if his theory is correct. Despite a 120,000-square-kilometer search area, no conclusive wreckage from MH370 was found, leading to the suspension of the official search in 2017, as per media reports.
