She was widely regarded as one of the front-runners to succeed Justin Trudeau as the next Prime Minister. Having moved to Ontario in 1985, Anand built a distinguished career as a scholar, lawyer, and researcher. Her expertise in corporate governance and investor protection led her to serve as a professor of law at the University of Toronto, where she held the J.R. Kimber Chair in Investor Protection and Corporate Governance.
