White House Slammed For 'Dehumanising' Deportation Video Set To Pop Anthem: 'Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na'
A video released by the White House highlighting the deportation of migrants has sparked widespread backlash on social media.
The footage, shared via the official White House account on X (formerly Twitter), shows detained individuals being processed for deportation, set to the 1983 UK pop hit 'Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)' by Bananarama.

The clip depicts migrants lined up and escorted by authorities, with the lyrics "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye" used as a caption, appearing to mock those being deported.
The tone of the video, perceived as celebratory, has provoked fierce criticism online, with many accusing President Donald Trump's administration of treating vulnerable people in a dehumanising manner.
"This is ghoulish behaviour. Sociopathic. Shame on you," one user commented. Another added, "It would be great if you guys stopped with the dehumanising posts! It's disgusting."
One particularly scathing response read: "This isn't policy. This is state-sponsored dehumanisation - with a soundtrack. Weaponising suffering. Mocking lives torn apart. Celebrating cruelty like it's a game show. This is how fascism talks when it thinks no one can stop it. We see you. And we will stop you."
According to an official statement from the White House, in March, the US Border Patrol encountered only 7,181 illegal immigrants at the southern border.
This marks a 95 per cent drop compared with the same month under former President Joe Biden in 2024 (137,473), a 96 per cent drop from 2023 (163,672), and a 97 per cent drop from 2022 (211,181).
This incident is not without precedent. Last month, a similar deportation-themed video featuring the band Semisonic's 1998 hit 'Closing Time' also drew ire.
The Grammy-nominated group later stated that the song had been used without permission and that its message had been completely misinterpreted by the White House.
