White House Security Breach: Driver Arrested, Secret Service Responds

A security breach occurred at the White House when an outer gate of the presidential residence was rammed by a vehicle, on January 8. The incident, which happened around 6 pm local time, was confirmed by the Secret Service, and the driver was taken into custody for further investigation.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, US Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi issued a statement saying, "Shortly before 6 pm, a vehicle collided with an exterior gate on the White House complex. We are investigating the cause & manner of the collision."

The second update on the incident comes after 45 minutes later (approx.) in which the White House official stated that the vehicle has been cleared by the Washington police authorities and traffic closure has been lifted. According to the US Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi, Driver remains in custody for further investigation. Later, in the tweet, he has also thanked the authorities for their swift action and unwavering support.

The incident did not pose any threat to President Joe Biden, who was not present at the White House at the time. However, significant traffic disruptions were caused at 15th Street & Pennsylvania Avenue, a busy intersection near the White House.
