What Is Gold Card? An Upgraded Version Of Green Card Offered By US President Donald Trump For $5 Million

"We're gonna be selling a gold card. You have a green card, this is a gold card. We're gonna be putting a price on that card of about $5 million and that's gonna give you green card privileges plus," US President Donald Trump recently announced a special back door way for rich immigrants to US citizenship.

The Gold Card is described as an upgraded version of the Green Card, offering a path to citizenship. President Trump made the announcement to introduce Gold Card during a session in the Oval Office.

This move reflects Trump's focus on economic benefits from immigration policies. By targeting wealthy immigrants, he aims to boost economic growth and job creation while addressing fiscal challenges through increased tax revenues.

It is expected that Gold Card program will commence in two weeks, though specific implementation details are yet to be disclosed.

Potential Replacement for EB-5 Program

Commerce Secretary Lutnick mentioned that the "Gold Card" could replace the current EB-5 program. The EB-5 allows immigrants to gain Green Cards through investments in US businesses. Lutnick suggested that funds from the "Gold Card" might directly benefit the government.

"The president said rather than having this sort of ridiculous EB-5 program, we're going to end the EB-5 program. We're going to replace it with the Trump gold card," he stated. He added that applicants would still undergo vetting to ensure they are exemplary global citizens.

Trump believes Congress's approval isn't necessary for this initiative. However, how this program will be executed remains uncertain. The administration has not provided comprehensive details on its operation or potential impacts on immigration policy.

The "Gold Card" is designed to attract affluent immigrants who can invest in America and help reduce the national deficit. According to Lutnick, these individuals would bypass traditional vetting processes but still be subject to checks ensuring they meet certain standards.
