Went Too Far: Elon Musk Expresses 'Regrets' Over Posts On US President Trump

Days after attacking US President Donald Trump, Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday expressed "regret" over some of his posts.

What Musk Says?

"I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far," Musk said in a post on X.

Went Too Far Elon Musk Expresses Regrets Over Posts On US President Donald Trump

Musk had fallout with Trump after he went public criticising Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" (OBBB) and declared it a "disgusting abomination." The bill promises sweeping tax cuts which could possibly add around USD 3 trillion (AUD 4.62 trillion) to the US national debt.

After stepping down from his advisory role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DoGE), Musk started openly criticising Trump and the bill.

The Fallout

Trump hit back at the Tesla CEO by threatening to cancel government subsidies and contracts linked to Musk's companies. Musk then claimed that Donald Trump would not have won the elections without his support and reshared posts that had critical remarks about Trump.

Trump shot back, saying, "Elon was 'wearing thin', I asked him to leave [...] and he just went CRAZY!"

The clashes intensified as Tesla CEO Musk accused Trump of "intentionally shielding the full release of the Epstein files due to his involvement in the case." However, these posts were deleted by him, later.

The US President claimed that Musk's reaction was due to his government's decision to end tax credits for electric vehicles.

In an interview, Musk had said this earlier: "I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decrease it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing."

Following the reports of Musk extending support to candidates running against Trump-backed Republicans in the upcoming midterms, the US President had said, "If he does, he'll have to pay the consequences for that,"

Nonetheless, Trump had predicted that the Tesla CEO will be back soon. He said, "Elon's really not leaving. He's going to be back and forth, I think, I have a feeling."
