Went To US For Arranged Marriage, Indian Woman Goes Missing; Probe Underway

Authorities in New Jersey are investigating the disappearance of a 24-year-old Indian woman named Simran, who disappeared shortly after arriving in the US for an arranged marriage. CCTV footage revealed Simran checking her phone and looking around, seemingly waiting for someone before she disappeared on Wednesday. The footage did not show any signs of distress.

Simran arrived in the US from India on June 20. Investigators suspect she may not have intended to marry but rather sought a free trip to the country. Despite efforts, authorities have been unable to contact her relatives in India.

Details of Simran's Disappearance

Simran was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black flip-flops, and small diamond earrings. She is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 68 kgs, with a small scar on her forehead. Notably, Simran does not speak English and has no known relatives in the US.

In another incident earlier this year, Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old Indian pre-med student studying in the US, went missing during a vacation with friends in the Dominican Republic. She disappeared after going for a morning swim on March 6.

The police have launched an investigation into Simran's case and are reviewing all available evidence to determine her whereabouts. They continue to seek information from anyone who might have seen or heard from her since her disappearance.

Efforts to reach out to Simran's family back in India have been unsuccessful so far. Authorities remain hopeful that further leads will emerge as they continue their search.
