Watergate back in news after garage collapse

Washington, May 1: Watergate is back in the news and this time after a structure in the garage at the historic complex at Washington DC collapsed injuring one person.

Local media reported that the shed suffered a structural collapse on Friday, May 1.

The Washington fire department said that‎ it had units on scene at the complex, located in northwest Washington near the State Department.

The DC fire department described the incident as construction related.

One injured in collapse:

Local media reports say that one person was injured in the incident. Emergency personnel were pressed into service and the situation is under control.

The fire department also stated that the situation was under control and all the workers had been accounted for.

The Watergate scandal:

The Watergate scandal was one off the biggest to hit America.‎ The Watergate building was completed in the year 1971.

A year after it had been completed the building gained international fame ‎when the Democratic National Committee's headquarters were burglarized.

The investigations conducted indicted that several members including the then President Richard Nixon who resigned the subsequent year.
