In a post on X, Dominick noted, "We flew over Hurricane Milton about 90 minutes ago. Here is the view out the Dragon Endeavour window. Expect lots of images from this window as this is where I'm sleeping while we wait to undock and return to Earth." The video, posted on Tuesday morning, showcases the spacecraft gliding above the U.S., with Hurricane Milton prominently visible.

Dominick provided technical details about the video, mentioning it was taken with a 1/6400 second exposure, a 14mm lens, ISO 500, at half-second intervals, and 30 frames per second. Viewers were quick to comment on the video's striking visuals, with one noting, "Hard to wrap your head around the sheer size and power of these storms," while another highlighted the storm's impressive eye formation.

Hurricane Milton's Intensifying Threat

Hurricane Milton has maximum sustained winds of 150 mph and is moving east-northeast at 9 mph, according to a Tuesday update from the hurricane centre. It is expected to bring life-threatening storm surges, destructive winds, and heavy rainfall. Forecasters predict a potential storm surge of 10 to 15 feet in Tampa Bay, marking the highest surge ever predicted for the area, which has led to evacuation orders along the coastline.

In anticipation of the storm, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 51 of the state's 67 counties. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor issued a stark warning for those in mandatory evacuation zones, stating, "If you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you are going to die."

A Recent Devastation

Hurricane Milton arrived less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Helene has claimed at least 232 lives across seven states, particularly devastating North Carolina. Although power outages have dropped below 2 million, around 1.6 million homes and businesses remain without electricity in the hardest-hit regions.

As Hurricane Milton approaches, the situation remains dire, with officials urging residents to heed evacuation orders and prepare for potentially catastrophic impacts.
