WATCH | US Border Standoff: Migrants Defy Texas Immigration Law, Clash With Guards In Razor Wire Breach

Tensions have increased at the US border in Texas as a large group of enraged illegal immigrants was marched toward the border wall in El Paso, resulting in a melee with Texas' National Guardsman.

Approximately 100 illegal immigrants were involved in breaking through the barbed wires in an attempt to enter the US illegally on Thursday, following the halting of Texas' anti-illegal immigration law SB4 by Federal Courts, as reported by First Post.

US Border Standoff

It has been argued by Texas that an anti-immigration law had to be brought forth, briefly approved by the US Supreme Court, due to the perceived lack of action by the Biden-led administration in securing the border and deporting those who entered the nation illegally.

Border Guards Repel Illegal Migrant Mob in Texas

A video recorded by The New York Post depicts guards pushing back and closing down gates of the border to prevent a mob of illegal migrants from entering the US. The migrants were allegedly incited after one family unit was allowed to pass through. From the other side of the fence, a soldier can be heard shouting, "Get the f-k back!" at the illegal immigrants.

All the illegal immigrants attempting to trespass have been apprehended and will undergo processing for deportation. It has been stated by Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, that the state can also press charges against the migrants who assaulted the soldiers. In 2023, a record 2.4 million immigrants had hit the Texas border seeking entry into the United States.

What is the Texas' anti-immigration law?

Texas has been attempting to secure its border with an anti-immigration law, which permits the state police to arrest immigrants suspected of illegally crossing the border. "It is being faced with such dangerous situations. And number two, the laws of the United States of America are being violated by Joe Biden through his actions," remarked Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

The immigration law was blocked by the US Appeals Court just hours after the Supreme Court permitted the state to enforce measures under it. The move has been opposed by the Biden-led government, contending that the Texan law infringes upon federal responsibility over immigration enforcement.

"SB 4 will not only make communities in Texas less safe, it will also burden law enforcement, and sow chaos and confusion at our southern border. SB 4 is just another example of Republican officials politicizing the border while blocking real solutions," stated Washington's press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre recently.

Mexico has declared that deportations made by Texas won't be accepted "under any circumstances". The law would result in "the separation of families, discrimination, and racial profiling that violate the human rights of the migrant community," as stated by Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
