WATCH: Floods And Heavy Rains Impact Saudi Arabia's Holy City, Medina
In Saudi Arabia on Monday, certain regions, including Al-Ula and Al-Madinah, experienced floods and heavy rainfall. Al-Madinah is home to Al-Masjid Al-Nabawi, the second holiest site in Islam and the burial place of the Prophet Muhammad.
Videos circulating on social media depicted the intense rainfall near the mosque.

Heavy Rains Impact Saudi Arabia
According to a report by The New Arab, the severe weather conditions led to road closures and prompted schools in affected areas to cancel in-person attendance. Additionally, travel warnings were issued by the Gulf nation's meteorological authorities.
Local media sources reported that authorities are currently assessing the situation in the affected regions. The Civil Defence Directorate has advised residents to exercise caution and avoid valleys and waterways. They have also urged drivers to be particularly vigilant on rural roads.
Earlier on Monday, the Saudi National Center for Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert for the Al-Madinah region, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms. This alert covered Al-Ula from midday until 11 pm.
The NCM's statement highlighted the expected weather conditions during this period, including heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, reduced visibility, hailstorms, and potential flash floods.
These recent weather events come shortly after flash floods impacted neighbouring UAE and Oman to the southeast, a rare occurrence for this time of year. In November 2022, coastal flooding resulting from heavy rainfall affected Jeddah, leading to fatalities.
