Warnings Ignored? Witnesses Saw Rifle-Carrying Sniper, Warned Police Before Attempt On Trump's Life
Just before the shots were fired at the Trump rally on Saturday, the witnesses had frantically tried to alert police about a sniper on a rooftop, The New York Post reported citing the onlookers as telling the BBC.
"You could clearly see him with a rifle," said a man wearing a MAGA 2020 to BBC News. "We're pointing at him. The police are down there running around on the ground."

"We're like, 'Hey, man, this guy on the roof with a rifle.' And the police were like, 'Huh?' They didn't know what was going on," he added.
The witness explained that police seemed unaware of the situation when they were informed about the sniper.

They yelled about him for *almost an entire minute*

Secret Service Inaction
The witness claimed he and his friends tried warning police for several minutes while Secret Service members watched but did not act until between five and eight shots were fired. He stated that the shots "100%" came from the man carrying the rifle.
"He was up there for a couple of minutes, absolutely at least three, four minutes. We were pointing at him for the Secret Service, who were looking at us from the top of the barn. They were looking at us the whole time," he said.

Police Response
The shooter was approximately 400 feet away from the stage. Law enforcement officers approached and neutralized the suspected sniper after he was killed by a Secret Service assault team. "They blew his head off," said one witness.
Elon Musk posted a video on X, writing, "The head of the Secret Service and the leader of this security detail should resign." Another rally-goer told CBS News that he twice tried to warn an officer about the gunman before shots rang out.

Rally-Goer's Account
The unidentified rally-goer said he noticed a suspicious figure moving between buildings and informed an officer. "I seen a guy on top of one of the buildings go in between one building to the next and I went and told the officer that he was up there," he recounted.
"When I went back to my spot I heard that people could still see the person…. And I went back to tell the officer that if he came over there he could see them and when I turned my back was when the shots started," he added.
Secret Service agents rushed to Trump after he was shot on stage. Police snipers returned fire after shots were fired during Trump's rally.
