VP Kamala Harris Responds To Second Donald Trump Shooting In Florida
Vice President Kamala Harris reacted to reports of gunfire near former President Donald Trump's property in West Palm Beach, Florida, expressing her relief that Trump was unharmed.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Harris stated, "I have been briefed on reports of gunshots fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America."

This statement highlighted her concern over the incident while reinforcing her stance against violence.
Trump's Second Assination Attempt
Harris's comments came after news emerged that gunshots had been fired near Trump's International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, where Trump was reportedly golfing at the time. Secret Service agents heard the gunfire and took immediate measures to ensure Trump's safety, relocating him to a secure room. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and Secret Service are jointly investigating the shooting incident, but no further details about the suspect or their motive have been released.
Harris's statement is notable in the context of her previous discussions on gun ownership and gun violence. During a recent debate, Harris clarified that she is a gun owner, having purchased a firearm for personal safety reasons. She emphasized that this decision aligns with many Americans who own guns for similar reasons. However, she also made it clear that despite being a gun owner, her presidency would not involve taking away people's guns, distinguishing her stance from stricter gun control advocates.
This is not the first time Harris has addressed gun-related issues. During her 2020 presidential campaign, she spoke openly about her decision to own a gun for personal protection, saying, "I own a gun for probably the reason a lot of people do - for personal safety." While she supports measures to prevent gun violence, Harris balances this with respect for responsible gun ownership, reflecting a nuanced stance on the matter.
Her response to the shooting incident near Trump's property underscores her firm belief that violence has no place in American society, a message she has reiterated throughout her political career. Harris's call for peace and safety came amidst a politically charged atmosphere, as Trump continues to be a central figure in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election.
