Vietnam to issue 300 silver coins to commemorate Trump-Kim summit

The country has taken all measures to make the historic occasion a memorable one and it was learnt that 300 silver coins were set to be issued on Tuesday, February 26, to welcome the summit between the world's two most talked-about leaders. The first summit between the two was held in Singapore on June 12 last year.

Viet Nam News cited a representative of Vietnam Philately Co. which has been asked to make the coins to say they are designed with two faces - one having the image of a dove, an olive branch and the flags of North Korea and US. The other face has the image of a lotus and the date of the summit. The coins cost USD21 each (around Rs 1,500).

"Our designers and artisans have worked very hard to design and finish to coin's image in only one week. We are trying to complete the coins to issue them today to welcome the historic summit," the representative was quoted as saying by Viet Nam News.

On February 23, the US also issued 1,000 coins with each worth USD100 (over Rs 7,100) to commemorate the summit. Last year, too, the Trump administration had announced a coin to mark their Singapore summit.
