Video: Lightning strikes Empire State Building
New York, July 27: A journalist named Henrik Moltke shared a video showing a lightning bolt striking the Empire State Building during a storm in the city on Monday evening (July 25), an AP report said.
Moltke, who shared the video on Twitter under the title "Boom", said he saw the storm approaching from the window of his office located nearby and captured the scene by balancing his phone against the glass, the report said. Moltke also said that he "was just lucky".
Lightning strikes on the iconic skyscraper isn't something unusual and is hit 23 times a year on an average, the building's website said, as per the AP report.
Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds threw life in New York City out of gear on Monday.
