Vasundhara Oswal Arrested In Uganda: Why Billionaire Pankaj Oswal Not Going To African Nation For Her Release
Indian-origin billionaire Pankaj Oswal and his wife, Radhika, have isolated themselves in a secret location, feeling "immensely guilty" for sending their daughter, Vasundhara, to Uganda, the couple's youngest daughter revealed in an email interview with Hindustan Times.
Vasundhara has reportedly been imprisoned by Ugandan authorities for over three weeks without trial. In explaining why her parents are not traveling to Uganda for her safe release, Riddhi Oswal said, "My parents' hands are tied because they can't even go to Uganda without facing immediate arrest by the highly corrupt officials there."

She added that Ugandan police have excessive power and can detain individuals arbitrarily, without warrants or proper legal procedures.
Vasundhara is facing murder allegations, but her family asserts that the alleged victim has been found alive in Tanzania, under state custody, quoting the last phone call from Vasundhara, her family had said earlier. "If my parents are arrested, they won't be able to fight for my sister, who has essentially been cut off from everything and is already being treated like a convicted criminal," Riddhi added.
Pankaj and Radhika Oswal are now disconnected from the outside world as their only focus is secure their daughter's release. Riddhi added, "My parents have essentially locked themselves in a secret location, devoting all their time to fighting for my sister's release. They barely eat more than one meal a day and are surviving on the hope and faith that they can get their daughter free," Riddhi told HT.com.
"They feel immense guilt because they pushed her to go to Africa to manage the factory and oversee its setup," the younger Oswal sibling said of her parents.
"They always taught us that both sexes are equal and encouraged my sister to work on greenfield projects and more challenging assignments, rather than giving her something 'easier' or 'fancier' just because she's a woman. Now, they feel responsible for her situation," she added.
In the audio released by Vasundhara's family earlier, she is heard saying: "They are taking my phone. They are taking my phone."
