Toddler shoots mom accidentally

Miami, March 10: In a horrifying incident in Miami, a 4-year old toddler accidentally shot his mom on the back , leaving her seriously injured. An advocate of possessing armed guns for self defence 31-year old Jamie Gilt was shot when she was driving with her son on the back of the car seat.

Just a day earlier, she had boasted of her son's skill at shooting on Facebook. While she could not be interviewed in her hospital bed as she was not able to talk, authorities have warned her that she may face possible charges.

"Our investigation has revealed that the firearm was legally owned by the victim and the child came to possess the firearm without the victim's knowledge," Putnam County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The statement further added,"Florida statute makes it a misdemeanor for a person to store or leave, on a premise under his or her control, a loaded firearm in such a manner that it is likely a child can gain access to the firearm."

"Due to her medical condition, detectives have not been able to interview the victim and any decision on the filing of criminal charges will not come until after we speak with the victim."
