US And Ukraine Forge 10-Year Security Pact At G7, Pledge $50 Billion Aid
US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a 10-year security guarantee between the US and Ukraine at the G7 Summit in Germany. This has raised questions about whether American troops will fight alongside Ukrainian soldiers against Russia.
The two leaders also agreed on a financial aid package of up to $50 billion to help rebuild Ukraine. The funds will come from loans taken by Ukraine from international markets, with interest payments made from seized Russian assets held by the US and Europe.

The frozen Russian assets could generate around $3 billion in interest annually. This agreement aims to ensure steady American support for Ukraine, even if Biden loses the upcoming US presidential election.
Biden sent a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying, "You cannot wait for the United States to blink. You cannot divide us."
The US and Europe have frozen Russian assets worth over $260 billion in response to Russia’s military actions in Ukraine. European officials have stated that these assets cannot be directly transferred due to legal issues.
An official from France confirmed that the US will provide the largest portion of the loans to Ukraine. Legal details of the agreement are still being worked out at the summit.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan clarified that this agreement does not mean American troops will be deployed to fight in Ukraine. Biden has set a red line to avoid direct conflict between nuclear-armed powers.
Sullivan said the purpose of this partnership is to show that the US stands with Ukraine and will continue to meet its security needs. He also mentioned that other nations will contribute to the financial support package for Ukraine.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said all G7 countries will contribute to the financial assistance package for Ukraine. Questions remain about how Russia will react to this massive aid package.
