US Travel Ban List: Donald Trump Govt Likely To Ban Pakistan, Bhutan And 39 Other Countries

US President Donald Trump is soon likely to announce big travel restrictions for people from over 41 countries. According to the reports, Trump administration is expected to make extensive travel restrictions in three groups and the first group would include citizens from Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Cuba, and North Korea, who would face a complete visa suspension.

The second group is likely to face partial suspension. This group would have five nations namely Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, and South Sudan. These would affect tourist and student visas as well as other immigrant visas with certain exceptions. While, the third group of 26 countries such as Pakistan, Bhutan, and Myanmar could see a partial suspension of US visa issuance if their governments fail to address deficiencies within 60 days.

A US official who spoke anonymously mentioned that the list might undergo changes and has not yet received approval from the administration or US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This move echoes President Donald Trump's initial ban on travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries during his first term. That policy underwent several revisions before being upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018.

Security Vetting Intensified

On January 20, Donald Trump issued an executive order demanding stricter security vetting for foreigners seeking entry into the US to identify national security threats. This order required several cabinet members to submit a list by March 21st of countries whose travel should be partly or fully suspended due to inadequate vetting and screening information.

This directive is part of Trump's broader immigration crackdown initiated at the beginning of his second term. In an October 2023 speech, he outlined plans to restrict individuals from regions like Gaza Strip, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and other areas perceived as security threats.
