US Teen Nikita Casap Accused Of Killing Parents To Fund Plot To Assassinate Donald Trump

A teenager from Wisconsin, accused of killing his parents, is now facing broader allegations that he committed the murders to "obtain the financial means" to assassinate President Donald Trump and overthrow the U.S. government, according to a recently unsealed federal warrant.

17-year-old Nikita Casap was charged last month by authorities in Waukesha County with first-degree murder, theft, and several other offences in relation to the deaths of his mother, Tatiana Casap, and stepfather, Donald Mayer.

Authorities allege the teen fatally shot both at their home near Milwaukee in February, then lived with their decomposing bodies for several weeks before fleeing with $14,000 in cash, passports, and the family dog. He was apprehended last month in Kansas.

Casap is currently being held at Waukesha County Jail on a $1 million bond and is due in court next month to enter a plea. County prosecutors have alluded to the broader federal charges, which were detailed in an FBI search warrant unsealed on Friday.

Federal investigators allege Casap carefully planned his parents' murders, purchased a drone and explosives, and discussed his intentions with others, including a Russian-speaking individual.

His motives are reportedly laid out in a three-page antisemitic manifesto that praises Adolf Hitler. The federal warrant, filed in Milwaukee, also references Casap's communications on TikTok and the Telegram messaging platform.

"Casap appears to have written a manifest calling for the assassination of the President of the United States. He was in touch with other parties about his plan to kill the President and overthrow the government of the United States," the search warrant reads.

"The killing of his parents appeared to be an effort to obtain the financial means and autonomy necessary to carrying out his plan."

In court, prosecutors said Casap had communicated with a Russian speaker and shared a plan to flee to Ukraine. He was discovered in Kansas with cash, passports, a vehicle, and the family dog.

Federal prosecutors allege Casap's manifesto explained his motive for wanting to assassinate Trump and included ideas for settling in Ukraine.

Quoting from Casap's writings, the federal warrant said the teen aimed to trigger a governmental collapse "by getting rid of the president and perhaps the vice president."

Efforts to reach Casap's public defender, Nicole Ostrowski, for comment were made on Sunday via phone and online messages. In court last month, she filed a motion to dismiss some of the charges, including theft, arguing that prosecutors had not adequately presented their case. She also emphasised her client's age during proceedings.

"He is young, he is still in high school," Ostrowski said on March 12.

County officials have also charged Casap with hiding a corpse, misappropriating identity to gain money, and theft.

Officers discovered the bodies of Tatiana Casap, 35, and Donald Mayer, 51, on February 28 after relatives requested a welfare check when Mayer failed to show up for work and Casap had missed school for approximately two weeks.

Authorities believe the murders occurred several weeks prior. Prosecutors told the court that the bodies were so severely decomposed they could only be identified using dental records.
