US Prez Biden doubts Putin would use nuclear weapon against Ukraine

Kyiv, Oct 12: United States President Joe Biden on Wednesday doubted that Russia would use a nuclear weapon against Ukraine, amid the ongoing escalation between the two countries.

President Biden, in a CNN interview, while responding to how realistic he believed it would be for Putin to use a tactical nuclear weapon, said, "Well, I don't think he (President Putin) will," reported Reuters.

The report on nuclear weapons came when Russia bombed several cities, including Ukraine's capital Kyiv which caused destruction and took the lives of citizens.

Russia bombed Ukrainian cities in response to an alleged attack by Ukrainian forces on Crimea's Kerch bridge in which three people were reportedly killed.

Along with the US President, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also told reporters in Brussels on Tuesday the military alliance has not noticed any change in Russia's nuclear posture following the threats.

Following the fresh attack on the capital city, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy pleaded with the Western allies for rapid military aid.

President Zelenskyy reiterated its demand for Air Defence System and said that he expects a positive response on Wednesday when the US-led coalition of some 50 countries known as the Ukraine Defence Contact Group will meet in Brussels today on the sidelines of a NATO defence ministers meeting.
