Washington, Feb 4: US Secretary of State John Kerry has reportedly admitted that the White House's approach to the crisis in Syria is far from successful and said that the USA now requires to strengthen the hands of the moderate opposition before the al-Qaeda took charge of things, a report published in The Daily Beast said.

Kerry reportedly expressed his weakening faith on his own administration to 15 Congressmen in a private meeting, two Senators present at the meeting , Lindsey Graham and John McCain said. Official sources though denied such reports.

The Secretary of State, who took over from Hillary Clinton a year ago, said the tyrannical regime of President Bashar al-Assad did not keep its promise on giving up chemical weapons as per the schedules while Russia was not helping to resolve the civil war. He also suspected that the Geneva 2 peace talks were not succeeding and hence now favours to back the rebels in the West Asian nation to stop local al-Qaeda fighters from attacking the US.

Kerry is in favour of arming the moderate opponents, said reports

Kerry's views contradicted the public message that he and other top officials of the Barack Obama Administration had issued openly.

The two senators reportedly described the meeting to The Daily Beast, The Washington Post (read here), and Bloomberg View (read here).
