Hemant Mistry, an Indian-American motel manager in Oklahoma, tragically passed away after being assaulted in the motel parking lot, according to media reports.
The 59-year-old victim, originally from Gujarat, succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident, which occurred near I-40 and Meridian Avenue around 10 PM on Saturday, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Reports from India Today indicated that Mistry had asked the accused, 41-year-old Richard Lewis, to leave the premises before Lewis allegedly punched him. The assault left Mistry unconscious, and he was rushed to a local hospital where he later died around 7:40 PM on June 23, according to police statements to local media.
Lewis was subsequently located and arrested at a hotel in the 1900 block of S Meridian Avenue. He now faces charges, including aggravated assault and battery, and was held on a $100,000 bond at the Oklahoma County jail as of June 24.
Oklahoma City police, speaking to the media, noted uncertainties regarding whether Lewis had been asked to leave the property but confirmed his non-compliance. The incident has sparked widespread concern and mourning, highlighting issues of safety and security within local communities.
