Ukraine votes in parliamentary polls

Ukraine
Kiev, Oct 26: Ukrainians on Sunday started to cast their votes to elect the new parliament, a 450-seat single-house legislative body.

Originally, the elections were expected in 2017, but the uprising in February changed the flow of events which led to an early parliamentary polls, Kyiv Post reported.

Voting started all across Ukraine at 8.00 a.m. in 34 polling stations.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko dissolved the existing parliament Aug 25, three months after he came to power.

A total of four million people will be casting their votes.

Ukraine's Central Election Commission has registered 2,321 foreign observers, including 19 from Russia, who will participate with the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to monitor the poll.
