The impact of the heavy rain was widespread across the UAE, resulting in heavy downpours and flooding in various areas. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert weather warning in response to the situation. This advisory, effective until Wednesday, April 17, indicates that heavy rain is expected to continue, suggesting that the effects of this unprecedented rainfall could persist for some time.

The record-breaking rainfall in the UAE represents a notable climatic event for the country, showcasing the extreme weather conditions that can occur. DXB Redirects All Incoming Flights

Due to adverse weather conditions, a significant announcement affecting operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the globe's busiest airports, has been made. On Tuesday, it was decided by DXB to reroute all incoming flights scheduled for the evening to ensure safety until the weather situation improves. However, the departure flights at the airport have been kept operational, indicating a partial yet crucial disruption in services.

Amidst this weather-induced chaos, a temporary halt to all departing flights from Dubai has been declared by FlyDubai, a prominent airline based in Dubai. This suspension is set to last until Wednesday morning, as confirmed by the airline. "All FlyDubai flights scheduled for departure from Dubai this evening (16 April) have been canceled effective immediately until 10:00 (Dubai local time) on 17 April. During this period, passengers who do not have Dubai as their final destination will not be accepted for travel," announced a spokesperson for FlyDubai.

The closure of schools across the UAE has been necessitated by the weather disturbance, with expectations for them to remain shut on Wednesday due to forecasts of further storms. In response to the severe weather predictions, the remote working directive for Dubai's government employees has been extended into Wednesday, ensuring the safety and well-being of the workforce amidst the ongoing weather challenges, as reported by OneArabia.

In addition to the disruptions in flights and schooling, the sports calendar within the region has also been affected by the inclement weather. The Asian Champions League football semi-final, featuring a match between the UAE's Al Ain and the Saudi team Al Hilal in Al Ain, has been postponed by 24 hours due to adverse weather conditions.

The series of storms that have led to these widespread disruptions in the UAE, Bahrain, and parts of Qatar was initially struck by Oman. There, deadly floods were caused, leaving dozens stranded and highlighting the severe impact of such weather events across the region. This sequence of events underscores the challenges posed by extreme weather conditions and the wide-ranging effects they can have on transportation, education, work, and sports activities in affected areas, as per media reports.
