Two Delta Planes Collide At LaGuardia Airport In New York - Watch Video

Two Delta Air Lines planes collided at New York City's LaGuardia airport on Wednesday evening at LaGuardia Airport in New York.

The incident occurred when planes were taxiing at low speed. Going by the videos, one of the planes had detached following the minor crash.

"They were taxing to the gate at LGA after landing at CLT when they were struck by another Delta regional jet that was taxiing by," a CBS News producer who was onboard DL5047, was quoted as saying.

After the incident, crew members and passengers were spotted on the tarmac, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Recent staffing cuts at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are raising significant safety concerns among insiders. A critical department responsible for mapping aviation obstacles like skyscrapers and power lines, the Obstacle Data Team, has been reduced from approximately 20 specialists to just eight.

"Air traffic controllers cannot do their work without us," an employee, who was affected by the layoff, had told Politico in February.

Whistleblowers fear that the diminished team is stretched too thin, increasing the risk of errors in the hazard database provided to pilots and air traffic controllers. An employee warned that without this team's work, pilots could be "flying blind," and that mapping inaccuracies could lead to catastrophic accidents.

These concerns are heightened by several recent incidents, including a fatal crash at Reagan National Airport where 67 people lost their lives.
