Trump Threatens 'All Hell' If Hamas Hostages Aren't Released By Inauguration

US President-elect Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Hamas, threatening that "all hell will break out in the Middle East" if the hostages they are holding are not released by January 20, 2025, the day he is set to be sworn in.

Trump emphasized that this message was not a threat, but a declaration of what would happen if hostages, including American citizens, are not freed.

Hostages Seized in October Attack

Around 100 hostages, including several Americans, were taken by Hamas during their attack on October 7, 2023, in Gaza. While there is concern that many of these hostages may have already perished in captivity, negotiations are ongoing to secure their release. Trump's remarks came during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, where he addressed the status of these discussions.

"If those hostages aren't back, all hell will break out," Trump warned, without elaborating on the specific actions he might take. His comments highlight the urgency of the situation as his inauguration draws closer.

Progress in Negotiations with Hamas

Steven Charles Witkoff, Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East, spoke optimistically about the ongoing negotiations, stating that both sides are making significant progress. Witkoff mentioned that they are "on the verge" of an agreement and expressed confidence that by the time Trump takes office, a breakthrough could be announced.

Witkoff added that the strong stance taken by Trump and his expectations are driving the negotiations forward. "I'm really hopeful that by the inauguration, we'll have some good things to announce," he said.

Hamas Names Hostages for Release

Hamas has reportedly named 34 hostages, including two dual US citizens, that they would be willing to release in exchange for a ceasefire agreement. These developments are being closely monitored as the deadline for Trump's inauguration approaches.

Trump's Personal Connection to the Crisis

Trump's comments were also laced with personal emotion, as he spoke about the grief of families whose loved ones are still being held captive. "I've had mothers come to me and fathers crying, asking if I could get the body of their son or daughter back," he shared. His words underscored the human toll of the situation and the urgency of securing the hostages' return.

Failed Ceasefire Efforts Under Biden

The Biden administration has made multiple attempts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza, but these efforts have largely failed to produce lasting results. While an initial ceasefire led to the release of some hostages, subsequent negotiations have stalled, with no further progress in securing the release of additional captives.

Trump's warning underscores the escalating nature of the situation, with only two weeks remaining before he takes office. As the clock ticks down, all eyes are on the negotiations and whether a resolution will be reached before January 20.
