Trump Speaks with Putin, Pushes for Immediate Ukraine Peace Talks

Former U.S. President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to share details of a "lengthy and highly productive" conversation he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During their discussion, they addressed a range of significant topics, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, energy issues, artificial intelligence, and the global financial system.

Trump and Putin Advocate for Peace in Ukraine

Trump underscored their shared sense of urgency in wanting to end the conflict in Ukraine, stating, "Millions of deaths must be prevented." He reiterated his long-held belief that if he were still in office, the war would not have occurred. "We aim to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the war between Russia and Ukraine," Trump wrote, also noting that Putin had endorsed his campaign slogan of "COMMON SENSE."

In addition, Trump revealed his intention to reach out to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to apprise him of their discussions. He announced that a U.S. delegation, consisting of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Ambassador Steve Witkoff, will spearhead the negotiations.

Trump praised Putin for his openness to discussions and shared that both leaders had agreed to schedule reciprocal visits to each other's countries. He also expressed gratitude to the Russian president for facilitating the release of Marc Fogel, an American citizen detained in Russia.

Concluding his statement on a hopeful note, Trump voiced confidence in the peace endeavors, stating, "I believe this initiative will lead to a successful resolution, hopefully soon."
