The shooting incident occurred at a rally in Pennsylvania, where gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire. Trump revealed that a crucial moment-when he turned his head to glance at a jumbotron-likely prevented a fatal outcome. During the interview, Trump also recounted his refusal to be carried off the stage on a stretcher following the attack.

"They wanted to put me on a stretcher," he said, adding, "I'm not going on a stretcher." Despite agents' concerns, believing he was shot in the abdomen, Trump insisted on getting up. "I'm telling you, I'm OK. I'm fine. I'm going to get up. I want to get up. I'm not going to be taken out on a stretcher," he recalled, as reported by Hindustan Times.

The former president noted that while his ear was injured and required significant attention, it is now "good" and "getting much better." He described the injury as "nasty" but mentioned that it is now only needing "small bandages." JD Vance, Trump's running mate, shared his experience of learning about the shooting.

Vance was playing mini-golf with his children and waiting for a call from Trump regarding the vice-presidential slot when he received the news. "I told my kids, I said, 'We gotta get out of here. The president's been shot.'" He reflected on a touching moment when his son inquired about the president's identity, and Vance reassured him, "It's the president who's my friend," as per media reports.

Vance expressed gratitude for Trump's safety and praised the calm reaction of the rally attendees, which he viewed as a testament to the strength of the movement.
