Trump Rejects Claims of Elon Musk’s Secret Pentagon Briefing on China Strategy
Washington, D.C. - U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed a report from The New York Times alleging that billionaire Elon Musk was set to receive a classified briefing at the Pentagon regarding potential military strategies against China. Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to denounce the claims as "fake news."
"The Fake News is at it again, this time the Failing New York Times. They said, incorrectly, that Elon Musk is going to the Pentagon tomorrow to be briefed on any potential 'war with China.' How ridiculous?" Trump wrote. "China will not even be mentioned or discussed. How disgraceful it is that the discredited media can make up such lies. Anyway, the story is completely untrue!!!"

The New York Times report cited two U.S. officials who allegedly confirmed that Musk was scheduled to receive a briefing at the Pentagon, with one official stating that the focus would be on China. The article also quoted Sean Parnell, the chief Defense Department spokesman, who reportedly confirmed Musk's visit, stating, "The Defense Department is excited to welcome Elon Musk to the Pentagon on Friday. He was invited by Secretary Hegseth and is just visiting."
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, as well as the owner of the social media platform X, has taken on an official government role as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) since Trump's return to office in January. His involvement in government affairs has led to heightened media scrutiny and speculation.
The Pentagon's operational plans, often referred to in military terminology as O-plans (operational plans), are among the most closely guarded secrets of the U.S. military. The suggestion that Musk, a private sector entrepreneur, would be privy to such sensitive information sparked controversy and prompted swift denials from Trump and his administration.
Despite Trump's categorical dismissal of the report, The New York Times has stood by its sources. The situation underscores the ongoing tension between Trump and major news organizations, as well as the evolving role of private industry leaders like Musk in governmental operations.
As of now, the Pentagon has not released an official statement either confirming or denying the details of the alleged briefing. However, Musk himself has not commented on the matter, leaving room for further speculation on his involvement in national security discussions.
This development adds another chapter to the complex relationship between the government, media, and influential business magnates, raising questions about transparency, security, and the role of private sector leaders in shaping public policy.
